Welcome to G4NMD N4GJS Website
I’m Graham, amateur radio operator G4NMD in the United Kingdom and N4GJS in the United States. Radio has been part of my life for decades — a thread running through curiosity, community, and service. These days you’ll find me on HF and VHF/UHF, exploring digital modes, portable operating, and the ways radio supports community resilience.
What I Enjoy
Amateur radio has always been a blend of people, technology, and purpose for me. I enjoy the quiet satisfaction of a well‑tuned antenna, the surprise of a distant FT8 contact, and the shared sense of service that comes from emergency and community communications. Whether I’m operating from my home station in Surrey or portable in the field, radio remains a space of learning and connection.
Station & Activity
My station is a mix of HF and VHF/UHF equipment, supported by simple, effective antennas and a growing interest in digital modes. I keep a modest logbook, enjoy experimenting with portable setups, and continue to explore how amateur radio can support resilience and local preparedness.
Community
I’m grateful to be connected with radio communities on both sides of the Atlantic, including SEMARC and GDRS in the UK and clubs in Boston, MA as well as the wider UK amateur community. These relationships — local nets, shared projects, and the occasional field event — keep the hobby grounded and human.
